Taking breaks, both mental and physical, are really good for you. I highly recommend you schedule one if you haven’t in a while. Even if it’s just for five minutes.
ALERT: Just DO NOT shut yourself into a messy room or closet, because before you know it, BAM, you’ll be organizing like crazy and your mental escape will become nonexistent. Been there. Done that.
I think I have finally sort of (maybe?) learned how to relax. I spent some time recently literally doing nothing. If you know me, that is insane. SERIOUSLY INSANE. And as the hubby would say, a serious step in the right direction for this extreme Type A personality. I don’t do “nothing” well. In fact, I suck at it; but at least I’m learning to have fun trying.
Recently, I was asked to share some of my life story with my church family. On spiritual warfare, of all things. Now, let’s be honest, people don’t like to talk about spiritual warfare, especially in front of judge-y church type folks. Ya dig?
But I did it. Because my pastor asked me to.
And I know God wanted me to say yes, even though I was screaming NO the whole way!
Satan had me convinced that no one would relate, but quite the opposite was true. (sadly) Way too many people could relate to my testimony.
When you step in front of a thousand people and open up about some of the spiritual warfare in your life, it’s really quite liberating. So liberating, in fact, this radio girl shared some on air too! And I was met with more understanding, acceptance, gratitude and thanks.
There are more people than you realize dealing with your situation right now. Maybe not exactly your situation, but close enough that they can relate to you. No joke. Satan wants you to think you’re the only one stranded out on Woe Is Me Island. But YOU ARE NOT ALONE!
Open up to someone today, OK?
Share just a tiny bit about what’s going on in that pretty head of yours. Maybe your marriage is suffering right now. Maybe a health issue is stressing you out. Maybe you’re behind on the bills. Maybe the dreaded C word is looming over your head. Maybe your kids are driving you insane lately. Maybe you’re really lonely. Maybe it goes way deeper than all of the above.
If you don’t open up, you can’t let it out. If you can’t let it out, it just festers and grows exponentially worse than it already is. Just like Satan wants.
Don’t let Satan win.
We need each other! So let it out! Share with just one person today something that is stressing you out. Just one person is all it takes to shine a light into that dark place hidden deep in your soul. That dark place filled with all the worry and the anxiety that God commands us to release. And if you don’t feel comfortable sharing with someone earthly, then please just sit down and have an honest to goodness talk with your Heavenly Father.
I’m so over worrying what everyone thinks of me. I just want to live for Him.
I’m ready to light a fire under both of our butts to continue to get out there and love and serve the Lord. To love our sisters in Christ with all our hearts. To STOP being such catty chicks (we are so annoying aren’t we?) To ditch the judgment. Get rid of the ego (or lack thereof). And just be REAL with each other. With ourselves. WITH GOD!
NO more trying to change each other. MORE trying to accept each other.
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all He has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7 (NLT)
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you.” 1 Peter 5:7 (NLT)
I hope so!
What will you do to live more authentically this week?
